As soon as I hear sci-fi I always imagine space. I loved The Martian and Apollo 13 but they are not so much fiction, more likely partly happened or likely to happen.

For pure fiction it's probably between the Alien films, Predator films or the Terminators. I haven't actually seen many of the films in the Poll

I'm just about at the end of Jodie Whitakers first series of Dr Who, and though there are some good episodes its a very disapointing start. The last episode I actually turned off halfway as I lost all track of what was going on. I'll watch it again tonight along with the 2019 Special before hopefully the 2020 series is better than I remember (or at least I'm not looking back on it with COVID tinted glasses).

One set of episodes I'm not looking forward to seeing again is her last, the mini series 'Flux' which I remember as absolute nonesense. I'll be fair though and rewatch it anyway.

The early Jodie Whittaker ones were far too political in my view, rather in your face about getting messages across. The later ones did go back to more traditional Dr Who type stories, though some were a little over complicated.

I honestly don't mind a bit of politics (small p) in my TV entertainment (although like all things, it can go too far!); but I just remember the Jodie episodes as being all a bit ... meh. It just didn't feel like the scripts worked with her talents/character/woteva (or maybe she was unlucky and got a run of really dull scripts); I never watched it and thought "Whitaker, give it up, you're awful!", but I just got bored hearing her talk. (And she's been brilliant in other TV shows I've seen!)

Kerblam! Which I watched last night is guilty of that. Turns out AI is bad, and we combat that by killing all the humans  On the flipside 'Demons of the Pujab' (about the partition of India/Pakistan) is top level Dr Who, really good.

hangonnasec ... are you saying the episode about Indian Partition WASNT political?!?

I gave up with Dr Who with Jodie. Then tried it with the new chap and lass off Coronation Street and it's just crap. Managed two episodes and we both went WTF is this.

The episodes were filmed very out of order as Ncuti Gatwa wasn't available at the start of production and I think (personal opinion - no proof) that the overaching story revolving around 'Ruby Sunday' was changed late on, both things that might have harmed it. There are some gems though - 73 Yards is one of the all time best Dr Who stories.
