...and it would give me nightmares looking at some of the graphic pictures of spontaneous combustion.

You'll love the next CycleChat Investigates thread then;

Will Spring Heeled Jack terrorise your family tonight?

When I was younger (OK - a lot younger) I read several article that scientifically investigated the events and concluded that it really happened

personally I think the word "scientifically" is doing rather too much heavy lifting in these cases

but it did seem like several people who had a decent brain looked at in independently and said that the people did seem to have suddenly burst into flame for no apparent reason

one person said that the combustion seemed to be different to someone who had had their clothing catch fire or been covered with a flamable liquid because they seemed to have been burnt from the inside rather than skin inwards

which could be bollox of course

but there was a video of a performed in a night club suddenly catching fire which seemed convincing at the time
I mean - stage lights, 1970's costumes , drugs, drink
Nah - no other reason there mate must have been SC

Just noticed that the "New Thread" page on CycleChat has the following top 2 threads

If I remember rightly, the leading scientific theory involved people with considerable body fat, low 02 levels in the room and "wicking". Essentially your "falling asleep in nylon clothes with a lit cigarette" option, but with a slow burn after.

If it were a thing, why do funeral directors charge so much for a cremation? Several hours at Regulo 6000, when you apparently could do the same job by just lighting a toenail with a match. Sounds as good a conspiracy theory as any, to me. What Scientists Don't want You To Know! Humans Are Highly Flammable! Don't Light That Fart! etc.

My father tells us that when he dies, he wants to be left on the garage roof for the birds to peck away at his carcass.

It's an interesting thought, but I somehow doubt the neighbours will think the same! 😂
