Thanks Glasgowcyclist. Yes there is an Italian theme with me; my wife and her family are Italian. I holiday there each year and I am hoping to be going over again this year. I had to skip a couple of years because of illness and last year was my first for a while. I'm sitting on-line right now looking at the best deals on flights for this year too. Yesterday my consultant gave me the go ahead to fly again and I was also told that I am able to get back on my bike. I'm still smiling . The only fly in the ointment is, I'm too knackered still to contemplate cycling so I'm going to spend next week walking, to try and regain a little strength. I'll be keeping everyone posted on my blog.

I can assure you, there is nowhere over here that is sheltered from the wind. As kids we learn to walk at an angle. I think that's why we all have bad backs but I'm definitely up for a CC Eccosse ride when I'm fighting fit again.

Just don't listen to any estimates on how far they are from cake stops or how steep the next hill is! In all honesty they took me in well for my first ride with any one else, never mind a bunch of strangers(to me)

Love the pics of Crow Road, my dad took us up there every odd weekend as kids I feel like I know every lay-by, hill and stream along that road, I could get there blind folded. I hope one day soon I'll be up there with my bike.

I love your screen name. I hope you didn't get too bored reading my saga. Please feel free to comment on the site and let me know if you think there's anything I could add to it. I am recovering from my latest op at the moment and I'm still not able to get out on my bike (not long now I hope) which means there has not been many updates lately.

I love the Crow Road too. A lot of cyclist insist that the Tak Ma Doon is a better road, and I agree from a technical cycling perspective. But for landscape and views, the Crow Road is the mummy and daddy in my opinion. After all, the scenery is half the reason I enjoy cycling north of the Clyde valley wall as you put it. I am contemplating doing a similar write up on the Tak Ma Doon since I can't get out to cycle just now. Only problem is, that in all the times I have cycled up the Tak Ma Doon, I have not done it with any form of route recording gadget. Now I have a Garmin 500, I will need to do it as soon as I'm able.
