thanks smokey, ill have a read, id really like a cadence feature as i have a habit of daydreaming and dropping a bit low,

GPS i really dont need though. its a feature im happy to not pay for.

id prefer not to spend more the £80 as ill probably end up leaving it on my bike one day to get nicked by some chav.

I have a boardman 22 and dont find it complicated. Just reset the trip distance before each ride and all the other ride parameters reset automatically, then look at the numbers at the end of the ride. Cadence works well as long as you follow the instructions and mount the sensor in range.

If you carry around a smart phone with you (android or iPhone), you may want to check out Wahoo's REFLKT and BLUESC. If you use the phone as the display mounted on your handlebar, you can get away with just the BLUESC which will do cadence and wheel rpm and it's rather inexpensive (I believe it's about $60 US, a cadence only version is available for less if you just depend on the phone and software to determine speed). I've had mine (BLUESC) for about 2 or so weeks, but I'm happy with it so far. It's not necessarily a perfect solution, but the price is decent.

The Garmin unit is really nice, I considered the 510 but I really didn't need some of the software features it had vs what I could find from other software packages that was compatible with the BlueSC.
