I’ve come back to cycling after a very long break, and would really like to make some new friends, this is more social than anything else. I am not looking for people who zoom around the ‘Tamsin Trail’ and scare the hell out of people. I’m looking for responsible people who want to enjoy a nice peaceful ride around the park (possibly a couple of laps, with a stop at one of the café’s), so this probably won’t appeal to the die-hards, but might just appeal to beginners.
The Tamsin Trail is a cycle/footpath that runs around the perimeter of the park for about 5 miles, so you will have to be fit enough to do that. There is in fact a speed limit on the Tamsin of 10mph.
If you are new to the sport, I will be happy to do any maintenance that needs to be done, but I do need you to bring a spare inner tube in case you have a puncture!
Haven’t made up my mind when to go, apart from the fact it has to be at the weekend. So at present I’m very flexible on the subject, but Saturday or Sunday afternoons about 2pm would be best for me (as I’m usually over there anyway).
To my knowledge, parking is free in Richmond Park, and it’s a wonderfully safe environment. So if you’ve always wanted to go cycling, but never been confident enough to try it, this is for you. Happy to hear from anyone, and who knows maybe this could be a regular thing, or maybe the start of an informal club? We’ll see what happens!
