I'd love to see and travel across Russia, but I suspect that there would be lots of long roads with nothing but trees to look at.

There is a dutch guy called Ivo Miesen who has Audaxed and cycled in Russia a lot and I believe speaks good Russian - he may be willing to answer questions - he posts on yacf sometimes,

Vyborg is horrible, you'd be better going to St Petersburg. The writer doesn't cycle the last bit into St Petersburg, but you'd get a good idea of the area and what's worth seeing.
