Anyone done this recently?
I gather some bits are open but I'm struggling to understand from the website on which bits the bike path is open and which you have to get the bike bus
We are going in the direction Freezland to North Holland.

Been keeping an eye on this as going to Terschelling in June. You can cycle a bit of the dijk until you get to the locks. You then have to get a free bus which takes bikes over the other side of them. All of it is cyclable next year. We are going to give it a miss this year and getting ferry from Enkhuizen to Stavoren which gets you to Freisland.

I know that there are locks at the Den Oever end and at Kornwerderzand and that you need to get the bus over them. Do you know if you can cycle the bit in between the two sets of locks or do you have to stay on the bus when you get on?

All uphill

I'm also taking the ferry again from Enkhuizen to Stavoren again this year; it's a treat. Sate and chips at sea. Mmm.

If you plan on cycling from Friesland to Noord Holland be aware you are cycling against the prevailing wind - the dijk is exposed, and unlike most hills it just goes on and on.

The wind (though the forecast could change in a week) looks like it will be coming from the side at the moment.
We are taking the Enkhuizen- Stavoren ferry the day before. Did it last year - one enormous school party all on bikes plus the two of us!

I've not cycled the Afsluitdijk but have cycled the Houtribdijk (southern IJsselmere actually a dam but referred to as a dike) several times, similar distance. It's actually really boring cycling (but flat and easy and I needed to get to the other side).

nb the Afsluitdijk is actually a dam not a dike.

Currently on the ferry to Stavoren. Weather glorious (unlike last year's persistent rain!)

Accidentally found ourselves caught in a massive cycling event. 2 middle aged cycle tourers caught in huge pelatons of skinny blokes probably called things like Wout van Trijbaars. Huge party atmosphere with crowds lining the route, loads of cheering, beer flowing and kids with supersoakers!

I now know the answer to my question!
You catch the bus from the Wadden centre and go one stop to the fish migration river. From there, you can cycle 20km along the dijk. It is a long straight cycle path on the Wadden sea side. For the whole length, there was just the two of us plus a Dutch guy cycling with camping gear. The weather is in our favour but I can imagine it being hell on earth in the wrong conditions! You pick the bus up again at Monument and it takes you one stop to Den Oever. Currently in Medemblik attempting to rehydrate! Another 40km to go to reach tonight's destination of Edam.
