Cycling in Spain

We are currently located on the Costa Blanca on a camp site between Alicante and Torrevieja where the area is relativity level and I feel a lot safer riding than on the roads back home in the UK, however, you continually have to keep your eyes peeled for little gems like this drainage grid out in the road with it's drainage slots running with the road rather than across. Or could it be a Spanish bike rack?

These signs are appearing all over the place here in Spain.

The vast majority of other road us over here leave an embarrassing amount of space when passing you, however I'm sorry to say

the ones that do pass to closely are either British registered vehicles or fellow cyclists?
