I'm doing the same sort of thing and have narrowed it down to CTC or Mondial Assistance. The CTC policy includes 'bike repatriation' and costs around £35, the Mondial Assistance provides what is probably far better policy except it doesn't include 'bike repatriation' and is around £16.
To cover theft of your bike/cycle kit/camping kit put it on your house insurance. Our existing policy didn't cover them, but was due for renewal at the end of July, I took out a new policy with M&S starting a few weeks earlier and it provides "unlimited cover away from home" for pretty much anything having an individual value up to £4000, worked out cheaper than my renewal too.
