cycling into London from Essex

So I've been cycling into south London from Hornchurch essex for the last two weeks and it's been great. It's a 30 mile round trip and it takes me about 1 hr 10 mins each way. I think what helps makes the journey so enjoyable is the new road bike I recently purchased which was a BMC ultegra road racer. This is my first road bike and it's great. I was experiencing some pain on my shoulders whilst riding so I've just ordered a new backpack 'ospery escapist' so I hope that will make things easier. Another slight issue is that I find pedestrians would rather walk on the cycle path especially on the CS3 rather than the pavement which can be a bit of pain nevertheless it's still a good ride. Thanks for all the tips and advice.

15 miles in 1h 10mins is good pace for London traffic, especially as you are on the CS3, as you have noted, just take it easy on that section and enjoy the ride, dont go whizzing past pedestrians.

Hi Enis, before I moved to Hornchurch my commute was 5 miles each way and I had been doing that for about 4 years. I also do jogging and leg strength exercises such as squats so I think that has helped with my fitness. When i first started i was pretty unfit
so it does take time, just keep at it. :-)
