I've always cycled. My dad used to get up to tricks as a lad (I am only finding out now I am 45) but I am the only one that cycles regular in the family (except my own kids/missus).

Anti cyclist golfer brother in law has bought a bike and one for my sister. He is hooked and has become a Boardman brand hore (his admission).

My dad, now 70, has got my brothers old Emelle MTB and started riding it. He has brought it down to the caravan and rides to the paper shop and back with a view to going a little further for a pint or two at local pubs. For a BSO it's actually ok. My brother hardly used it, no suspension, but it all works well. I serviced it about 5 years ago and it's been used once since, hence my dad using it.

It's spreading. Watch out. It's infectious.

My family were here yesterday and my 5 year old niece wanted to tell me (not any of the rest of the aunts and uncles), that she could now cycle:okay:

Good going.

I was actually shocked my brother in law took it up. He had a hip replacement some years back (he is early 40s but it was degenerative) and had been getting a little trouble from it. I said cycling is non impact and would strengthen his muscles around the joint (same with shoulders) and support it better.

So he did.

Must say I do like the smooth welding on Boardman.

Failed to infect anyone here.

You need to keep trying. Even my injuries and crashes don't seem to put off the relatives. :bicycle::evil:

My daughter (20) and her boyfriend have just bought new bikes, after not cycling since they were very young

Something's going on. There were so many riders out on the fens today, it was close whether we saw more cycles or cars once we were off the main roads (well, the slightly wider roads). Wonderful to see it.
