New subscriber to Cycling Active. I was a C+ subscriber a few years back but it got a bit samey each month. I'm sure Cycling Active will go the same way for me but it's a change, and a good way to keep up with new products (they're not that 'with it' here in France, not in any breadth anyway). Also used to receive the CTC mag.

General cycling news, I tend to read on the web from a number of sites. So not really interested in Cycling Weekly. Reviews also I tend to read on the web too. Mags are sometimes starting points for reviews but I prefer a broader spread of opinion - the web gives me that.

I'm a member of CTC (at the moment;)) so I get the mag (as far as I know the mag isn't available via any other means), and find it quite interesting. I'm not interested in racing or mtb activities enough to pay for a specialist mag. Cycling plus used to be fairly interesting (for me), but now ... same as he said ^.

The CTC mag was where Dan Joyce (who was the editor of C+ in its interesting days) moved to after C+. I used to enjoy the CTC mag when I was a member for exactly that reason.

Thanks Colin, just out of interest, as you have mentioned that you're not interested in racing and mtb activities, do you attend big cycling events such as The Tour of Britain?

I also get Cycling World passed on to me which I really quite like. It's more of a collection of essays about day rides and tours.

I watched the Lincoln GP recently (that takes place within 5 miles of my home) and I've watched TToB when the route passed near wherever I was living. I'll also watch cycling events on TV (but I wont put myself out to do so).

I find the CTC mag gives me all I want, general interest articles, adverts for spare parts and components, campaigning. I'm not interested in cycle sport, amateur or professional.

Don't buy cycling magazines any more as they are all very samey and the standard of journalism in some is frankly pretty poor. Racing cyclists have to generally belong to an organization that promotes events, so get a handbook with a race calender in it. Usually a requirement that you have a race licence which comes with appropriate insurance although some will allow a novice to compete and try it out before signing up. Mass start road racing is gradually being killed off because of traffic/policing issues/nobody wanting to assist in organization and also the fact the newbie C+ brigade all want to ride sportive events.

Have bought a few issues of Cycling World which had some good touring articles in it, also get the V-CC magazine free which is good too.

Rouleur magazine is excellent.
Very different to the others you mention (and a bit more expensive) but definitely worth a look.

there are a few bike mags that go the extra mile - Velovision is the obvious example. I don't read any of the established mags - they cost a fortune and they're stuffed with ads. I get Cycle Clips sent to me.

I'd say that Cycle Chat is probably giving me everything that a cycling mag can give me, and a good deal more.
