Cyclist Knocked Over Tooting Wed a.m.

This morning, I was involved in an incident with a psycho bus driver on Upper Tooting Road. The details don't matter exactly here, but, when this nutter was leaping out of his bus to come and beat me up, he collided with a cyclist riding up the blue lane and sent him flying onto the pavement.

The cyclist complained of a hurt neck, but, by the time I had got an ambulance sorted out, he had decided, against advice, to ride on to work. The rider had what I think was an Antipodean accent.

If you are that cyclist, I can help you, because I know the name of the driver and the details of the bus. If you think you know the cyclist concerned, please pass the message on.

I think the bike was a Trek.

I hope the cyclist is OK, and that his bike is undamaged, but he took a real knock.

Bloody Hell Clarion, you haven't had much luck with your commutes recently have you?

Was just reading in the Standard of another bus driver that was sacked for attacking a pedestrian.

Really? I must see if I can get a copy of that article.

I do have some incidents, but then I do a lot of miles on some of the most congested and contentious A roads in the country.

And London is full to bursting of twats who can't drive adequately, of course!

But I had a great commute home this evening, and I know why I ride.

Sorry to hear about this, Clarion. Please pursue the matter.

Was the chap on a road bike or MTB? Did he have any distinguishing features (handlebar moustache, dreads, nose like Pinocchio?).

It was a road bike is all I can recall for sure. I think it was a Trek, and I think it was green. I also think he may have had an Australian/New Zealand accent.*

* Yes, i do know there's quite a difference, but when most of what you hear is someone groaning in pain, it's hard to determine.

I can barely hear a thing when I ride, so you did well to discern any kind of accent.

There are cameras at Tooting Bec tube station, was it anywhere near there? The bus may well have cameras fitted too. Hopefully, the police will follow up the obvious leads!

I wasn't riding when I heard him; I was standing in the road, then rushing to his assistance.

It was at the bottom end of the hill, between the Broadway traffic lights and Selkirk Road. Yes, there's a CCTV camera overhead there. There should be CCTV on board the bus, and there is a chance that the bus has forward-facing CCTV as well to capture the dangerous driving.

When I pointed out this last to the PCSO (or whatever he was), he sneered at me. Nice.

I don't get the impression that the Police will do anything at all.
