Tiny tiny story in my local paper.
Cyclist found unconscious lying in the road a victim of a suspected hit and run.
I can't believe it merited any thing more than a couple of lines!

I despair at the journalistic standard in local papers.

To be fair, my local newspaper that we get free every week actually has a lot of road related stories.
There is always something about a drunk driver being caught, or some kind of pursuit with a disqual driver. There is often something about a charity cycle ride or that a cyclist was knocked over.
Then in the back of the newspaper in the Sports section, there is a section on local cycling races at Marsh Tracks (cycle track).

If that was our local paper someone would have bought up "probably riding without lights" "were they wearing a helmet?" "ignoring red traffic lights" "No Hi-Viz" and probably whining about why I ("Mrs Miggins") now have to pay an extra £40 a year to have my 2nd green bin collected when cyclists get £500,000 spent on a cycle path in these hard times of spending cuts, it's just not fair!

I hope the cyclist is ok! Are there updates on the online version?

Our local paper (The Lennox Herald) seems to have started putting everything into different sections. Heck, they even have a 'Clubbing Section' which comprises of pictures of random revellers at a local night club, I kid you not!!

There isn't much in the way of cyclist news except for the usual charity ride guff (guff, as in where they make cycling 20 miles sound like crossing Antarctica on foot or similar), but to be fair, if anything serious like that happened then yes, it probably would be mentioned somewhere, which is better than nothing at least.

It doesn't matter what the story is, if there's a slight link to cycling, there'll be comments under the article about road tax, helmets and riding two-abreast...etc The ultimate example of this was in the Daily Mail, where the story about the massacre in the Alps (several occupants of a car murdered, along with a cyclist) prompted one reader to suggest that the cyclist may have enraged a motorist by holding him up, causing him to lose his temper and open fire!
