Never seen so many of the top riders crash in a race as in this women’s world champs. Puck looks out of contention for the win after crashing on one the steep descents, Brand crashed going up another whilst having a decent lead allowing Alvarado back up to her. Bakke crashed on a plank and nearly went down in the same place as Puck and Fouquenet also down so that’s 3 of the current front 4 and of the top 10.

Looks like Brand is going to run away with this now which is disappointing as an Alvarado fan but she’s been the top riders all season albeit in the absence of some of the other top riders so it feels justified. Belgian DQd for pushing another rider after they crashed.

Ended in the expected Dutch 1-2-3 but Puck’s crash made for a good battle for bronze until a minor mistake by Vas near the finish. Zoe had a bit of a poor start but came back for 7th a few seconds outside the medals.

Afaik Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado (admittingly I'm a fan of her, too) suffered from injuries and or illness at the start of the season.
Lucinda Brand has the mental and physical strength to push after her crash (which seems to me that she hit the ground fairly hard and had pains afterwards) - so it's definitively deserved and the well-earned crowning of her season.

Marion Norbert Riberolle was on the ground some time later, holding her head. Perhaps a concussion due that crash.
From my own experience with a concussion after a crash I know that it is possible to do something very stupid.

Hopefully all riders are well again after their crashes.

I was pleased to see Lucinda win as she has been one of the most consistent riders of the last few seasons, plus it looked like she’d peaked too early a couple of weeks ago.
