tricky to say, I dont think it was intentional as such, right but it still happened, and there was a drone shot they replayed during the lengthy deliberations, which hasnt been shared online yet that I can find, but it showed much more clearly Schreibers deviation from her line & moving left across Brands line towards the barrier which meant Brands sprint was affected.
now whether it affected it enough to change the result I dont know, Id say probably not, Brand said not as well but maybe she was just being a gallant loser, but it would have been alot closer result for absolute sure without it.
thats also to me part of it, we all thought neither rider celebrated because they were so close and it was a photo finish neither knew who had won, again the drone shot showed Schreiber actually crosses the line nearly half a bike length in front, so she knew she'd crossed the line first for sure, but didnt celebrate, even though later shes saying it was her most monumentous victory ever, probably because she knew that brief mistake if you like was going to be called for a review.
and its a harsh call no question because I think Schreiber had done enough to win that race, and had beaten Brand, and yet youve got a finish straight thats how many metres wide ? and your screwing around near the barrier, making a small mistake after 7laps of racing, and paying for it big time.
I saw theyre saying they are exploring legal options to overturn it, but I thought rule number 1 of all bike racing when you sign on is the commissaires decisions are final.
