We often refer to motons (motorised morons), but I think we need a new term for cycle riding morons!
I had to drive across town this morning (in a car
). The number of cyclists has definitely gone up, but the standard of roadcraft seems to have plunged. Now I know it was wet, and riding a bike can be less than wonderful in a deluge, BUT...
The number of cyclists doing stupid things was amazing. Riding straight out onto rondabouts, not stopping at junctions and in one case riding straight out in front of a bus to turn right, turning with no hint of a signal, RLJing including on pelican crossings, and more but lists get boring.
It's no wonder that the non-cycling part of the population has such a low opinion of cyclists!
Rant over.
