Salt and chocolate is well-known and rather excellent combination (as is the strawberries and black pepper thing). Of course chocolate has been used for centuries to add richness to Mexican mole* - hot chilli and dark chocalate is just perfect. Most of what we think are 'normal' or 'weird' is just down to culture...

(*that's a sauce, not the small short-sighted furry creature)

S'right what Mr Monkey said tho' but... I usually put cocoa in a vegetarian chilli... :biggrin:

It depends which end you come at it from. Putting savoury things in blocks of chocolate should be a capital offence but using pure cocoa powder as a spice in cooking is another matter altogether.
