Dam Sheperds pie..!

I normally drive to work but last night i decided to take the bike to burn off the massive serving of Sheperds pie i ate for dinner!
I left Godstone and rode up the bypass and down the godstone road through the dreaded Purley Cross and down the brighton road making good time.
I cycled over Waddon bridge and stopped in the green cycle box at the end of Waddon road which is set about 15 yards back from the lights and waited for the lights to change.
After waiting for about 10 seconds a double decker bus did a left from the Purley Way and took the corner too wide and fast and hit me head on
Next thing i know i'm laying in the kerb with some bloke picking the bike off me.
I've got a few cuts and bruises but i think the main impact was my barnet on his windscreen!
The police took a statement and then an ambulance took me to Mayday A&E (which is an experience in itself).
My bikes only a Carrera Vanquish but it's trashed so now i gotta find out how to claim off Metrobus for the damages but the thing that annoys me is that i can cycle 10 miles to croydon fine then get wipped out half a mile from work while in a green cycle box by a blind bus driver..!

Document any injuries you have, they may take a few days to show themselves.

I was car doored and had a broken clavicle and I had massive bruising to me left leg (Where I was hit by the door) but, they didn't show for a good few days in all its glory.

Also take photos of injuries and damage to the bike.

Firstly, I hope you recover soon and well!
Secondly, As others have said, make sure you write down a record of exactly what happened while it's still fresh in your mind, and make sure you're in contact with witnesses.

I'd say that you have an excellent chance of getting compensation from the bus company if you did no wrong and you have witnesses to that, also it seems like a case of driving without due care and attention on the part of the bus driver.

I wonder if the cctv will have a close up off my squashed nose on the windscreen.! the lucky side off it is for the last 20 years i have never worn a helmet except for the last 3 months and absolutely without a doubt if i wasn't wearing one last night it could have been curtains.

i can guarentee that "we forgot to load it with tape" when that comes round.

to the OP: you were stationary at a junction and the bus hit you, don't care what anyone says you're on a winner, contact a good solicitor asap.

When Iain Walker was doing his research the two times he was hit, once by a bus, was when he was wearing a helmet and now this after 20 years without. Its absolutely irrefutable proof that helmets are bus magnets. Throw it away, quick!
