Following an apocolyptic weather forecast last night I decided not to cycle in today.

But.... It's not that bad.....ggrrrr.
With an army of weather forecasters and a Cray supercomputer the BBC still can't get it right.

Any decent weather forecasting alternatives out there? (Apart from looking out of the window.)

It's never too bad to commute (unless ice of course)

I know the feeling. I had yesterday off so went for a ride in the afternoon. I watched the forecast at lunchtime and they promised a dry afternoon with a 'spot or two' of rain after dusk here.

Of course it started lashing down after a few miles! Bloody hopeless. I was kicking myself because I normally check the rain radar before heading out, but they were so certain it would be dry I didn't bother.

Weather prediction is all 'guess-work' and 'witch-doctery' anyway... But, like you I didn't ride today either; I've got a date with the Turbo trainer when I get home instead :laugh:

Well, don't go to the BBC for your weather forecasts. You'd be far better off with the MetOffice, and checking in the morning before you leave. The MetOffice is much more reliable than the BBC, and supply the BBC's data anyway, AFAIK.

Better still, use WeatherPro by MeteoGroup, which is the most accurate I've seen. Even then, don't expect that much accuracy for anything beyond 12-24 hours ahead.

I find the BBC site is normally pretty accurate and I did the same thing yesterday and used the car on account of the wind which was pretty blustery. Today I braved a stiff headwind into work looking forward to a nice tailwind home, but it seems to have gone
Never mind, makes me tougher and all that.

Well I managed to get wet multiple times today!! So they were right here. It was also very blustery which managed to blow me sideways a couple of feet as I past one side road.
