More pics in the series up to day 15. Been to the dentist today and need 2 lots of root canal work and a crown at least, possibly a bridge. Can get my bike this week so looking forward to that.

A helmet is designed just for that purpose, in case you just fall off your bike. They are not designed to protect you if you are in a collision. In Denmark I would say about 70% of riders wear a helmet but in Holland it appears to be much lower.

It is a topic that goes round and round. In the end you have to decide what you feel safe with in the circumstances that you ride.

I think even in a collision I would still want a helmet, I see riders in Edinburgh (Scotland) and its pretty busy, many lunatic drivers and they have no protection on. Bit like a condom, rather have one and not need it than need it and dont have it

Why would you even think about ditching your helmet, I would always wear one even if I'm on a route that had very little traffic, you ca do damage just by falling off your bike .
ALWAYS wear a helmet
Because it makes me look like a total self-gratification artist . No other reason .

Nightmare - hate the thought of the dental work (and the cost!)
