Another year, another day of atonement ride. We went South this time, down to Ashdod where my mom lives - 72k there, and 73 back next morning. Got mixed in a huge crowd of walkers/bikers/whatnot in the coastline cities. Saw a firework above Ashdod that turned out not to be a firework. Donated a tube and changed it for a halpess chap walking home with his ancient road bike. Made it in one piece both ways (although it was pretty hot on the way back).
First photo looks rather different to my cycle nearby!
On the face of it, you wouldn't expect it to be so quiet, given how busy Tel Aviv is on Shabbat (unlike parts of Jerusalem, e.g below). But there's definitely something different about Yom Kippur.
