On exiting my housing estate I've got the choice of either dual carriage way or 2 lane fast road with downhill blind corners, or the local cycle route, a 17% gradient.
If the cycle route was a quiet road I would walk the hill, but it is actually quite traffic intense.
So what I do is plank myself firmly in primary when I have to.
Get beeped like there's no tomorrow of course, but the alternative is getting hair raising close passes.
On occasion I take a bit of pavement, then enter a park to avoid the dual cw.
Thankfully my commute is mostly off peak, but even on a Sunday early am taximan is not happy to see a bike on his road.
