Dealing with Warm Weather

I have thought about that option but I don't think the company would be keen on it's employees showering on works time? I don't think it is unreasonable for them to expect me to be ready for my days work at the contracted start time.

It's all about being flexible I suppose. When I first started cycling to work many years ago, I would sit at my desk to cool down before having a shower and then starting work at say 9am. I would enter 9am onto my timesheet. However more and more frequently I found I would be expected to answer calls or queries before 9am. Now my employer may or may not have issues with paying me for the time it takes to have a shower but I certainly have issues with working for nothing. So now, my work day starts when I get to my desk and I count my shower time as my "smoking break".

Here in Canada we are on the very brink of summer, potentially the last snow of the year fell this morning. By the time I made it to work all of my tubes and cables had a half a centimeter layer of ice on them. Lost the ability to changes gears due to the ice build up but hydraulic brakes still work a treat.

Don't get into the shower until you have stopped sweating, or you will just carry on sweating afterwards; as @martint235 says wait a few mins until you have cooled down a bit. In the summer I get to my desk and put a fan directly on me and open the window behind me, I wait 10-15 mins then I go clean up (no showers here)

Is it a man thing? My brother has this problem of sweating 10 mins after a shower if he showers immediately. I have the opposite problem. I never sweat after a shower on a hot day but on a cold day, if i don't have a hot bath or very hot shower immediately i get cold shivers!

No showers for me either we haven't had any for many years now. At 7am ish it's generally not that hot anyway what 17 degrees max ?? 4pm onwards is a different matter and that week where it is over 23 degrees the old pro pour water over head does the trick for me.

Yes I get this too hence why when I had shower facilities at work I didn't use them. I cool down at home for 20 mins ish become freezing cold and then shower.

having lived in Bali in past and having cycled in hot climates. Clam speed down. Makes sure you carry plenty of water. Over here we seem geared for speed or mentality seems to be push bike as far and as hard as you can. Take it easy.

It's going to be 3°C overnight here, so my pre-dawn commute is going to be chilly, I may even need gloves. Given that I get up at stupid-o'clock, I'm about to hop into bed, under lots of layers of bedding, even though it's just past 7:30pm here.

Under dress and wear removable layers. Avoid getting hot in the first place. Cycle as slow as possible, and maybe only use the small chainring. By taking it really easy you will get less hot. Worked for me today.

You don't see the snowflakes blowing in the wind, time to clean the monitor.

The "desert" is pasture land that cows graze on to the right and a feild that will soon be seeded with wheat to the left.
