...not more than 30 minutes ago. Just coming up my road, get overtaken at the last second by a driver who wants to beat me to the lollypop lady. Its been peeing down for about 2 hours here so I was in no rush.

As we pull away I say hello to the lollypop lady and as we flow up a slight incline he all of a sudden hammers on his brakes. I too, went to brake, only found that I couldnt and very nearly went into the back of him. I JUST mananaged to stop by flicking around to his driver's side and managed to stop by his window (with a driver, it turned out, had squeezed through the gap from the other side forcing him to stop).

Now the thing is I should have been able to stop. I was about 8-9 feet away from the back of him and doing no more than 4-5mph. I had noticed a hell of a lot of oily patches again on the roads. My pads are still fresh so imo on examining the brakes over (I pulled right over after to double check) I think I must have oil on them.

Gonna pull the pads out in a minute and do some cleaning. They had some sort of black gunk on there.

We've all done it. How are the pants?

Not good. Glad you avoided it!

The roads have been very greasy recently, so I have certainly been more wary. Just this morning I had van pull out on me at a roundabout. It was very wet at the time and while my koolstop pads are pretty good in the rain, the wet still makes a big difference. Luckily I had eased off just before he pulled out.

Hone those spidey senses everyone!

I had an afternoon of people testing my brakes for me tbh. A good 5 drivers doing things like pulling out. Dont know why they were panicking and rushing things, rain aint gonna disolve their car LOL.

The morning ride was sweet though
