Dear Specialized.

This tyre blew out when the bike was parked in our hallway. As you can see it wasn't by any manner of means worn out. It had been inflated that afternoon to 120psi.

My wife, who is slim, and rides in a very gentle fashion, rode the bike with this tyre on the front wheel for thirty miles earlier in the day. Had the tyre blown as she descended Reigate Hill she'd have come to grief - so I'm thanking my lucky stars it went when it did. It's partner, which came supplied with the Roval wheels and Ruby Pro frame, distorted under pressure and had to be thrown away. Both wheels now sport Conti 4 seasons tyres.

So - what do you suggest? I can take the tyre in to a dealer to be examined if you wish, or I can send it to Chris Juden of the CTC for analysis. Please let me know

it's a copy of a letter.

I might have waited for a reply, but, as you can tell, I'm a bit shocked by this. I've had a front wheel blowout (going down the Ditchling Beacon) and it's absolutely no fun. I don't think, with the best will in the world, Susie would have stayed upright.

You'll get a new tyre from them...... that's about it...flippin dangerous though.......sheesh.......

They look like All Condition Sport tyres, is that right?
I had a set of them on my Sirrus, did a few hundred miles on them, no problems, I think the tyre was defective.

Talking about blowouts, someone had one on our club run last week, it was pretty loud!

I had a Specialized tyre go in me in very similar circumstances. Quick blow rather than a bang, due to inner tube getting pinched in the tyre.

Specialized Concept Store did a no-quibble replacement.

I then rode over some glass a week later and wrote that one off too.

A schwalbe blizzard blew out in my kitchen once. I'm mighty glad it did then and not when I was riding. I'd just inflated it to 100psi.

It was an almighty bang.

And I run conti's now.
