Humourously sarcastic piece by the OP, but single-speed / fixed gear and all that goes with it is simply a fashion fad I suspect - and I prefer that to the trousers below yer arse brigade any day of the week.

Bloke does seem to be a bit of a cock though

Er, not the OP, I hasten to add!

No. I insist, really - please carry on.
Morning Greg :hello:

PS. Des asked me for a decent photo of you so thay could print it on the LFGSS flyers that are being issued later today. (I told him a 'decent' pic of you didn't exist, luckily )

only if it is pronounced correctly. wtf is a 'lartay' anyway?

The problem with removing dipthongs is that it can make the speaker sound like s/he comes from Lancashire all of a sudden.

Perfectly fine if you're Lancastrian, but could get you some odd looks if you suddenly start asking for a "lah-teh".

I have found him ... Oh dear!

much younger much slimmer much better looking version of me. with a better messenger bag than mine. and a better bike. oh yeah and I use spds and mtb shoes. and where I live I'm one of three people who sometimes ride fixed rather than one of three hundred thousand. which is another way of saying I ride fixed too sometimes, and singlespeed a heck of a lot, and I do like the urban style the cult has adopted, especially as it marks me out a quirky and eccentric (according to my LBS owner) in a small town like the 'sham. which is, in itself, fun.

but I can't trackstand for longer than a few seconds and certainly not with sufficient grace poise and elegance to remain static for the duration of a traffic signal phase so I don't try. Because to oscillate back and forth over half a bike length like some demented piston, getting closer and closer to losing it with each oscillation, and with each oscillation covering a greater distance than the last, is, surely, the very hallmark of bellendery.

According to rule 56 only espresso (and please don't pronounce it ex-press-oh) or macchiato may be consumed whilst dressed as a cyclist.

This thread has provided me with much mirth, especially the eloquence of the OP in his vigorous verbal drubbing of the offending velocipedenarius urbanus.

However, I am now concerned about my own status. Hopefully I'm in the clear for never having cycled in London, and for not riding a fixed. But I've been doing trackstands (is that what they're called?) ever since I realised that clipping in and out at the lights is actually a faff and it's just easier to balance for a minute or two. I didn't realise it was actually an element of macho cycloposturing! I ride a mountain bike and er, a (shock horror) carbon road bike, but they both have quite a lot of gears. I also like coffee with frothed milk in, though I do refuse to ask for it by poncy names. Especially the size. If anyone expects me to say things like "primo" or "vento" when "Medium" or "Big" will do, they shall be sorely disappointed, and furthermore I would henceforth boycott their establishment. Purveyors of cof****ery to the ponceoisie.

Jury, what is your verdict? Am I too running the risk of bellendery (LOL!) or do I just sneak under the bar?

You'll do. It was the combination of mtb and carbon road bike that swung it.

Gotta HTFU and start drinking your coffee straight though.
