hi guys iv been looking at a few different hybrids over the last few weeks and getting abit confused as to what the best componants are for a gear set.

On the one bike i seem to be drawn too(marin belvedere) the get set is as follows

Derailleur Front Shimano Altus FD-M310 Derailleur Rear Shimano 2300 Gears 24 Shifter(s) Shimano EF50 EZ-FIRE Plus, 8 Speed
is this a good set up? or can someone give me some advice on better componants?

Thanks in advance guys ;)

Don't get too caught up in the hierarchy of different gear sets. Shimano do not produce stuff that doesn't work properly and the set up you describe will be fine. The more you pay, the more small refinements you get and the lighter it becomes, and you get more speeds generally speaking. For the average rider for leisure and fitness, the set up on stock bikes will do all that is needed.

In any event, if you like a bike enough to want to keep it for years and years, you can always upgrade components as they wear out.
