I have insurance through CTC membership. I’d have pursued it through that avenue. The driver pulled out without paying due care and attention. I think it’d be important to have on his record, if only in the insurance records. Make him think twice that little bit more about paying due care and attention when in charge of a motor vehicle.
Thanks. I'll take a look in to that CTC thing.

There’s a sticky here.

Were you injured? If so, the police should be informed
Thanks for link. I wish I'd have read that beforehand. You live & learn.

Yes I'm injured. I've had to take today off work (manual job & I've just now been in pain washing the dishes, never mind lugging heavy objects around). It's highly likely I'm going to have to take tomorrow off also.
The elbow is the main problem. Very painful to bend arm. I've the starts of a cold so my nose keeps running & itching which is a nuisance as I can't bend my arm so easily to get to it so have to use my 'wrong' hand.
My leg (thigh area) feels like the worst dead leg but I can walk. If anything touches the area though boy does it hurt.
Upper arm (tissuey area on outside, not boney shoulder) feels like a bit of a dead arm but this is the least troubling of the 3.

Not too sure when I'll be good to go back. I'm hoping Wednesday so not too much money is lost. I'm just grateful I don't live payslip-to-payslip but still, nobody likes losing out on cash.

Thing is, it's been over 24 hours now and I'm sure they frown on a delay of reporting. Why are you only bothering to report now kind of thing.
I don't know the guys registration but obviously I do now know where he lives.
If I had as much as road rash and a sprained wrist I think I’d be quite likely to lay in the road and wait for the police/ambo to be honest.
The nice people who stopped were going to call an ambulance. I said not to as I didn't want to waste their time. Perhaps a stupid thing to do but at the time I felt not too bad. Sore but not too bad.

FFWD an hour and the pain started kicking in. I don't usually jump at the chance of going to A&E (the wait times alone put me off massively!) but as soon as I saw the swelling I thought i better had.
And as said, I've now lost a days pay and 99% sure that's going to wind up as at least 2.
My pay varies but on average for a rough figure that's going to be in and about the £200 region give or take a bit.

Sorry to hear that @Two-Wheels - sounds rough and I hope you recover well.

I would really suggest you call 101 to report the incident. Best practice is to report immediately but isn’t better late than never?

If you have legal cover through your home insurance or work (sounds like your self employed though??) then now is a good time to use it. Tell them everything that’s happened and just see what they say?

Nope I'm not self employed.

I really should look out the house insurance to be honest to check that. On the topic of which - insurance has previously been mentioned in this thread.
My bikes are listed on my house insurance in the event of theft from the shed. I'm sure I remember at the time having the option of insuring the bikes away from the house too. Is there a reason those here don't go down this route for bike insurance (using home insurance)??

Regards the enquiring with the insurance - I've suffered that before with the car. Someone overtook me but they were going in to oncoming traffic & judged it wrong so sideswiped me. I pulled in to exchange details & they did a runner. I reported to police who contacted the guy who said sorry officer no idea what you're on about.
I contacted insurance to also report the incident (I didn't claim).
Anyway, already long story a little shorter ..... he clearly got away with it, bar whatever damage there will have been to his motor. When I renew in December it will be the first time in 5 years where I wont be penalised for it in my premium.

Point being, I'm concerned they'll say tough luck, we're not paying you anything for the bike, anything for your loss in wage but thanks for telling us about it because for the next x-years we'll extract even more money out of you for being 'higher risk'.

Quite simply post accident adrenaline meant you didn’t realise how badly injured you were. But 24 hours later, and one day off work already, it’s become apparent and you’d like to report it.

You have 3 years to log a case for personal injury but it’s up to you if need to pursue. Keep photos and records of everything just in case. You’ll need a solicitor, there are firms that specialise in cycling injury

No idea why others don't. I do, and the cover with Aviva is pretty good - including cover for third party liability - which will be paying out for my crash a coupe of weeks ago, since it was my fault, and I caused damage to the car I hit (smashed a hole in the bumper and broke near side door mirror). It was only an additional premium of £18 (annual) for full cover for a bike up to £2500.

Thanks guys.

Think i'm with Admiral for house insurance. I'd need to look over the documentation, or just simply contact them.

Second day off work today. Not what I wanted when the cost of absolutely everything is skyrocketing at the moment.

The Bolt 1 has a row of LEDs across the top which indicate a variety of info, above/below avg speed for info. In terms of the Varia you get red or green ones along with a graphic on the side of the screen. I presume Bolt 2s have a coloured graphic.
you presume correctly :okay:

Coloured strip on the main screen indicates vehicle approaching (amber) approaching at speed (red) or all clear (green) and a graphic indication of how close the vehicle is. Top row LED's easily configured via the app for nav/traffic/HR/Power. I have a Bolt 2 and a Varia and am impressed with both, having moved from Garmin Edges (various models over the years).

Similat figures to my policy with Axa, except that bike cover and legal cover are considered to be separate items (which is standard??)

Bike covered away from home as named item on contents insurance, legal cover including liability cover for £25 a year to cover the wife and I.
