ZZ Top were a great band.
I saw them.many years ago at Hammersmith Odeon, 1980 I think, I still have the sweat shirt I bought there.
Van Halen were the support band. They were pretty good as well.

Sorry to be pedantic Richard. It wouldn't have been Van Halen as support. They did their own headline tour in 1980 with 2 dates at the Rainbow not as support to ZZ.

I'll have to get the sweatshirt out and check the date and then do some Googling.
I know I saw ZZ Top at Hammersmith and about the same time I saw Van Halen. I thought both were on the same bill, but I my memory could be playing tricks on me.

56 years with one group  . That surely must be some kind of record (no pun intended).

Mick Jagger and Keith Richards have at least 64 years if not more.

The support act was a short lived glam rock band called 'Girl'.
I'll have to do more digging to find out where I saw Van Halen. I didn't think it was The Rainbow, but maybe it was.

[Edit]
Van Halen could have been June 1978 when they supported Black Sabbath.
