Know what you mean...I went to 'just have a look' and ended up coming back with the Triban (although I did just happen to put the bike rack in the back of the car though)
Just remember, some Decathlon outlets are very close to Ikea...you're doing her a favour by going!!!

If they've got your size, the Defy isn't that much more... http://www.ashcycles.com/site/giant...-goods?zenid=874edd19c900c080f5bde65cd61bc531

Chingford's not too far from Colchester really either, and given it's old stock, they may be willing to do a deal ;)

Just call them first as the link http://www.ashcycles.com/site/index.php?main_page=contact_us

If you're going for the Defy, I must say that before buying the Triban, I rang a few places and asked what deals they could do with the price and many were willing to come down as long as you could pay by cash not credit card...worth asking!

Cheers. I thought the 2012 model of the defy had different running gear, I will go and check. And yes I always ask for best deal before buying anything nowdays

Comes with the same 2300 Shimano gearing as the Triban...so does the 2013 it seems

you'll get £50 of free kit with the 2013 which may offset the cost difference vs 2012

Have to say that Defy looks very smart.

Whilst frame and gears will be of similar geometry and quality, the Defy wheels will be better than the Tribans (archiles heel), for that reason i would go for the Defy 5. I have owned both bikes,so speak from experience

Size matters - if you can establish one fits you better than the other, buying the good fit will save you a lot of time and money later trying to customise the other bike.

Sora is the next groupset up from 2300 - still has the thumb button shift

Have you looked at the two geometries on the manufacturer websites to see how they compare. Defy is fairly relaxed, not sure on the Italian
