I am currently experiencing discomfort to the sole of my right foot when out on the bike , this seems to be due to the fact that i seem to have more movement on my right cleat than my left . The question is if i change my cleats to ones with less or even no float will this help ? Has anybody else had similar problems ?

Are you using the full movement of the right hand cleat currently? You may just need to adjust the cleat position, alternatively purchase some 'more forgiving' cleats with a greater degree of rotation.

Something to consider.... sometimes it can be due to having a varus foot or feet, which basically means your feet are not quite straight so your foot wont be completely flat on the sole of your shoe and wont be distributing the pressure evenly. To combat this you can put wedges under your cleats to align your foot angle with the sole of your shoe. just a thought but if you have had other cleats and shoes before and been ok then this probably wont apply to you.

Barnet,
Could it be a shoe problem? Is the shoe a little too tight/ Try loosening the straps/laces a little.

Don't go for fixed cleats (red shimano's), unless you are very sure the bike is set up perfectly. Your knees will not appreciate it. Try moving to 2 degree float cleats (blue shimano's). I had a similar problem to you with the six degree (yellow) cleats. No matter how well the fit was performed, my feet tried to move too much on acceleration, blue's sorted it nicely

I have issues with my left knee, but only on one of my bikes. Same shoes and yellow cleats. The tension is totally different on each bike, so was going to tinker with the tension. Could a move to blu cleats help resolve my situation @Racing roadkill.

When I moved over to road shoes and pedals I suffered pain in the outsides of my feet for a few months but this improved gradually and now doesn't bother me. I messed around with BG wedges but they made no difference in the long run.
