Just wondering how deliveroo works (I don't wish to work for them, just wondering how the pricing works). So e.g a big Mac meal might be £6.49 in store, but on the deliveroo app the price is £8.29 plus a few quid delivery.

Does that mean some of the extra cost goes to the delivery rider? Or do they just get the delivery fee?

I assume the extra goes into the Deliveroo accounts, from which comes rider pay, business running costs, profit. You won’t generate a fortune as a rider!

Im just reeling at the cost of nearly ten quid to eat a Big Mac meal at home. I guess there are people who can still afford it?
We have all these food delivery services now so not that far behind the ‘developed’ world . No MacDonailds but KFC and Burger King.

The prices are set by the restaurants and takeaways. They pay up to a third of the order total to the likes of Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats, so hike up orders via the apps.

That premium you pay as a customer pays for the delivery driver (paid by Deliveroo et all) and the fee to the app.

We rarely order through Deliveroo but we did last night. The info said that the delivery person was called Michaela, and the mode of transport was "bicycle". Following on the map, I guessed Michaela was on an illegal ebike, as she got to us in 15 mins. I was a bit surprised when a young asian lad arrived with my food in a Diesel car. Perhaps they were using someone else's account. Or perhaps he was called Michaela and forgot his bike that day. Anyway, cool story bro, we got Burritos and they were very nice

Given the numbers of bikes I see outside MaccyD's and KFC on the A6 near McVities in Stockport, plenty of people get their Big Mac's delivered. They probably look like one. Neighbours over the road are regular delivery 'eaters' and they are quite large. PS we are in a cul-de-sac so you notice any car coming up.

Haha, I'm not judging anyone who buys a takeaway. We probably get 1 a week which I'm trying to stop (but am outnumbered).

I've never used Deliveroo but I do use UberEats, you need to look at the online vs shop price. Getting a Greggs Box (6 pasties) + 4 Sausage Rolls* is my guilty pleasure and its about the same price as the shop so I don't mind. I did use the single chinese restaurant on there for me recently and it was terrible so you can't have it all good.

* I eat them over a few days!
