All the time. I don't have any cycling gear apart from my 1880's replica cycling suit for my Penny.

I am at the mo due to the tempertures..

In winter, all the time, with a fine pair of army surplus LJs underneath. If it rains, I put on water-proof over-trousers. I've never had any problems with comfort, but then again, I'm not exactly Lance Armstrong....;)

Hot dang, I sure do. I squeeze into ma Daisy Dukes and get to pumping those pedals. Seems to cause a bit of commotion though with drivers swerving violently or else cussin' at me sayin' a 45 yo. man should know better.

If it's warm, then I think jeans would be too hot. If it's cold, jeans won't really keep you warm.

Why did you say are you're using them?

+1 but the LJs aren't army surplus (and are only knee length, it's thermal socks below that)

When it gets warmer the shorts go on, with over-trousers as well for the mornings and evenings. Standard sports kit though top and bottom - can't stand lycra it makes me itch.

I did today, I went out with the express intention of not looking like a cyclist so jeans and wind-proof fleece.

Generally, if I'm going somewhere, I'll wear jeans or whatever trousers are appropriate for the destination. I only wear cycling (which is actually walking) gear when the ride is the purpose.

IME jeans are a very poor choice for almost every activity. They are stiff, cold, heavy and soak up sweat or rain.

Tracksters or similar are far better for cycling or even general walking.

If I'm honest I've worn jeans for all sorts of activities for years, and I can't think of a single time they've been the best choice. I do cycle locally in jeans but the seams aren't great. Whereas I happened to be wearing an old pair of cargo/combat trousers the other day. Much comfier all round and especially on the bike.

I've been eyeing up various trousering options for the bike, quite like cargo style and 3/4 baggies. The ones I have already are heavyish cotton so would be a nightmare when wet or sweaty. But so many of the cycling specific ones look like those trousers you see advertised in magazines. So I've also been looking at more general outdoor wear. At least their sizes go up to an XXL that isn't a laughable 36" waist.

If I slim down enough I'm going to treat myself to some of the Rapha 3/4 ones though:biggrin:

yes, all through winter and normally spring/autumn too. Think they're the best unless they get wet (hence overtrousers). I find they do keep me warm-ish in winter (keeps the wind off which is the main problem); put a pair of longjohns underneath when it's really nippy.. Also found my Sugoi 'buntoaster' does really work!
