Well not really the depths, but I've just come back from a rec session and a really fun return trip from Gospel Oak (n London) to brockley, first real chance to stretch the legs of my new Triban 3. Managed just over 16mph average (no idea if that's any good but I've built up a good sweat!) and took 45 mins each way (37 mins ride time).

Even with the rain on the way there it was really fun, though now I feel like my poor old steed needs some TLC

Unless you have a special way with red lights going through town, that's a very swift time.

You're not far from me - I wonder whether our paths have crossed at gigs or hostelries some time or other.

16mph avg in London with all the stop start, traffic lights etc. I would say that's an excellent average.

Yeah I seemed to get hit with continuous red lights, but I suppose it's a good alternative to interval training hey? Have to say, as a devout N Londoner it was really good fun riding south of the river for a change, nice long stretches of roads and aside from the lights, fairly consistent speeds. Also crossed over CS7, first sight of a super highway for me!

Perhaps...it's a small world! The sesh today was just across the road from where my guitarist in my fusion group lives, which seemed fairly random.

And no no, I have a cam on my bonce so no RLJing for me

No hills? We will have to tackle some

Well there are some b*tch hills near me (highgate hill, swains lane etc) and I've not tried to tackle that since I got the roadie - I should do cos I'm pretty hopeless last time I tried...I think that's why I managed a good time on the way back, that part of S London was pleasingly flat

I should add as well - I was out for a total of over 90 mins, through central London, the city, elephant and castle, Bricklayers Arms etc etc, and the driving around me was nigh on impeccable. I've got 90 mins of cam footage and the outstanding parts are kind cyclists giving me directions and a driver asking me for some (to which I had no idea whatsoever). Good stuff
First time there in about 11/12 years. It was a novelty. Sure if I did it regularly the congestion, armoured up wankpanzers and the desperation of the drivers to just get somewhere would start to grate. Anyway, last time I cycled in Brixton I was the only cyclist. Good to see enough tonight that they actually started to appear almost commonplace. Not quite CS7 commuter number levels, but stil...
Cheers bro! Yeah cyclists are everywhere now compared to even just a few years ago! Funnily enough the amount of traffic on bank hol mon made it easier to keep with the flow of traffic.

Are the CS any cop? Are they uninterrupted for a decent stretch? Wondering where to go for a ride tomorrow...
