Hi
I'm hoping you can help, first major problem for a while. i've tried to work it out myself
I have a Genesis Day 02 2007 bike
Link to the bike on the Evans site - http://www.evanscycles.com/products/genesis/day-02-2007-hybrid-bike-ec014604#features
SPECS
Gears: Shimano Tiagra 27 speed groupset
Shifters: Shimano SL-R400 shifters
Chainset: 50/39/30 tooth chainset
Brakes: Shimano BL-550 levers with Tektro 356 brakes
Problem - My rear derailleur has snapped Shimano Tiagra RD 4500. I have no idea if this is a short/medium cage
Part
I believe they have stopped manufacturing the Shimano Tiagra RD 4500.
Using Evans as a reference again. I think one of the below would be the replacement
Shimano Tiagra RD 4601 (best price £29.99 at Evans)
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/shimano/rd-4601-tiagra-10-speed-rear-derailleur-ec041359
or if I read the specs sheet correctly a slightly better then the Tiagra Shimano RD-5701 105 (best price £37.50 tweekscycles.com)
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/shimano/rd-5701-105-10-speed-rear-derailleur-ec041358
Both in a Medium Cage (GS) and Short cage (SS) variant. I'm a little lost as to the one i need cage wise
Questions
= (50T - 30T) + (27T - 11T)
= (20T) + (16T)
= 36T

Questions
- Will both the models listed above work as a replacement for my obsolete version. I'm sure the answer is yes but always best to confirm
- Which one will I need Medium (GS) or short (SS) - I think i need the Medium GS model , but need confirmation before ordering. I've worked that out on the below formula with a little help from the net
= (50T - 30T) + (27T - 11T)
= (20T) + (16T)
= 36T
- It it a part that i could possibly fit myself? I am a bike repair novice
- I'm also considering a service, would it be more beneficial to opt for a service and get the parts replaced as part of the service?
