HTCs aren't branded. Part of the contract with the networks. Mines voda, and they love to fill phones to within an inch of capacity with shoot apps and stuff you never use. This is box fresh.

I did get her a DHD from Vodafone originally, but it went back as their signal was virtually non-existent around here.

That was branded with all the Vodafone apps and start up screen.

I thought those phone 'cashback' deals were supposed to be a con, where they make it impossible to actually get the cashback?

Tip: NEVER buy a phone or contract through anyone other than the actual network provider. No Carphone Warehouse, no Phones4U (ugh), in fact I wouldn't even use the franchised high street stores of the networks. You ALWAYS get a MUCH better deal and much better service phoning the network directly.

Example - I bought a HTC Desire last year (now belongs to my mum). For the same (low usage) contract it would have cost
£399 from Carphone Warehouse
£349 from an O2 high street shop
£280 from O2 over the phone.

No discussion really.

those deals are the redemption type where you post in your bills to get the cashback, I`m not a fan of those, never used them but can see all sorts of problems. Quidco however is just pure and easy, cashback paid to you no hassles. Wife uses it all the time, she has had about £700 paid to her just by shopping online. Going to phone 3 anyway if i do cancel so may just try my luck and see if they can better or at least equal the deal. Only issue with three has been reception at my mum and dads and down the see front where I live.

Not from vodafone themselves tho I bet. They, as all the rest, put all their own crappy softaware on the phones and totally ruin them. Carphone warehouse are the only ones i would go to now, i would even prefer to pay slightly more on my contract for the peace of mind of having a generic, un messed up phone.

I learned my lesson years ago when the Nokia N80 came out and i had sooooo many problems. Turned out, after speaking at length to both Vodafone and Nokia, that the handset was faultless. And the voda software was faultless. But put them together and it was a pile of poo. all be it shiny silver poo with blue lit buttons

My HTC Wildfire has no T-Mobile apps on whatsoever, I got it direct from them online. Only T-Mobile that shows is the operator logo on the lock screen and when I switch it on. And since I am on a 24 month contract I dont mind it showing that.

Saw this even cheaper now, £20.42 a month, 300 mins and 300 txts plus unlimited e-mail, phone cost £30!! Just trying to work out if 300 txts is neough, its plenty mins, Ive only got 100 just now and hardly use them but send plenty txts.

Blackberry torch is coming in at a good price using redemptions plus cashback, working out at £17 a month!! Hmm tempting just not ready yet to pull the trigger.

Ok order a BB Torch free on o2 on a £25 a month tarrif, got some cash back to go on this as well so coming in at approx £21 a month over the 2yrs, seems a good deal. Saw the Desire in the flesh and it looked good but I think I need a phone to be phone rather than a media/game/video watching device plus phone! Phoned 3 to see if they could match it and got nowhere, insisting on me taking their £35 a month all u can eat plan. So PAC good obtained and just waiting on the final bill from them which should be about £80 for the two contracts I have with them. ( wife is getting a torch as well )
