Di2 shift button setup preferences

I've recently installed a Di2 (2x) groupset on one of my bikes. Purely out of interest, I wondered how other people have set up their shift buttons? I'm happy with how I've configured them, which is not as Shimano deliver them; just curious what other people do.

I have:
- harder/higher gears via right hand button;
- easier/lower gears via left hand buttons;
- rear/smaller button on each side operates the rear derailleur;
- front/larger button on each side operates the front derailleur.

This seemed entirely the obvious thing to do since it's intuitive (to me anyway) and not constrained by how mechanical levers 'have to' function, but obviously it's 75% different from Shimano's mechanical levers.

So, what does anyone else with Di2 controlling both a front and rear derailleur do?

I suppose many leave them as you would mechanical, especially if you have a mix of Di2 and mechanical.

I have mine set up the same as mechanical. To be honest I can’t remember which way round the buttons on top work as I use them very infrequently. I would be better having them change the pages on my Wahoo.

@Sea of vapours You actually have them set up more like an SRAM Etap is (or at least is out of the box). On those you only have one button per side and it's higher gear on right button, lower gear on left button, both buttons together to switch between large and small front derailleur. Which is how I've left it on my bike as I'm happy with that operation.

I did also switch on the Compensation mode, so when I do change between front derailleurs, it does shift my rear by one the "other" way at the same time.

@steverob Yes, I thought that was how eTAP worked. It certainly makes more sense to me than mimicking mechanical.

I've also set it to semi-synchro (same as Compensation mode, with the option as to how many sprockets it shifts in each direction).

Changing between the Di2 bike and the mechanical bike seems to be not a problem as the action is so different that I don't do the wrong thing when changing.
