Yes, very sad. Surely it could be taken over by somebody.

Indeed it is

It was reported in our local paper last week, LINKY

Hopefully something can be done to save it as it is, (and more importantly where it is), but the owner does seem to have tried that, I thought Fred's sons might have wanted to carry it on, but if they had I'm sure they'd have done it from the start.

Unfortunately it's not in the best of areas, so as it home for £650,000 it's never going to appeal, and finding the right person with the interest, time, dedication and funding is never going to be easy.

This sort of thing doesnt appeal to the young generation anymore.
No one wants to buy it as a going concern, so the owner will sell it in small lots. There are plenty of museums and collectors who will want to cherry pick the best bits.
I guess the building will be turned into residential again.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
What a shame. Fascinating man to listen to. Very knowledgeable and a man who would have been quite at home in Victorian times, or even earlier.

Rather than close it couldn't they do something fitting like blow it up with dynamite?
Fred preferred to use fire for demolitions.

I wondered occasionally what happened to the house, I had no idea it was a museum. I recall his steam roller being in the news when it was sold.
