£500 lets you see through walls or something?

I wear sunglasses as much as I can because

1. I have really weakling eyes when it comes to sunlight
2. prevents crap flying into my eyes
3. looks cool
4. I'd rather a driver was noting my arm indicating and watching the road rather than looking at my eyes attempting to decipher a series of winks designed to inform him that I am going to turn left in a few seconds.

Sod drivers with sunglasses, what about drivers with (sometimes illegal) heavily tinted windows??

No.

If I'm wearing my contact lenses, I wear non-prescription sunglasses. If I'm wearing my prescription specs, then my clear lenses are actually photochromatic lenses and I've also a pair of prescription sunglasses. Strong sunlight can trigger a migraine in me, so it's a necessity for that reason...
When I was younger I didn't wear specs and suffered from very bad migraine, sometimes causing me to black out. Touch wood since i started wearing glasses about 16 years ago (reactolite) I've never had a migraine as bad as that again. I've also went the contacts under the sunglasses route and it seems to work too.

My prescription oakleys cost a fair bit but are very comfortable and hard wearing (f*ck knows how many times I've dropped them). I wear them for driving, walking, gardening, sitting outside pubs etc. Worth every penny (plus I get £300 a year towards glasses via insurance).

And I bet they look awesome aswell!

Like many, I find shades essential for safety and comfort on the bike. I'm using an older pair of Oakleys straight jackets, not as a fashion statement but because the lenses are just so good - protective and bright.

(My other essentials are lip balm and chamois cream. They don't stop insects from hitting your eyes but they sure make the ride more comfy!)

I have very pale blue eyes and (at age 53) cataracts, probably caused by too much time in bright sun without eye protection. So says my Optician.
Oakleys all the time for me now when out cycling, though not these ones!!
