Very well done! That's some achievement. Keep at it.

Well done Chris. Just started doing similar distances myself after commuting a couple of miles at a time for a couple of years.

It becomes addictive mind, keep trying that bit further each time.

Good stuff, on another thread I mentioned that I have been having problems with my saddle which is giving me a sore arse, I changed today to a spoon charge saddle and upped the angle at the front to 4 degrees and i've went from 20 miles to 35 miles while feeling happy as a pig with no sore arse!. If you're feeling comfortable then it's onwards and upwards. I only meant to go out for 15 minutes to test the saddle so my Fiancee was less than pleased when I was away for 2 hours lol.

I have just fitted the same spoon charge saddle myself last week after my standard giant one was not great after 15 miles. I just have the issue with my seat post and the clamp holding the rails. the seat moves back after every ride and did this on my old seat.

I am a bit over weight so going to aim for 40 miles next LOL but maybe do that in a weeks time and a small 10 miles mid week after work

Hi all,

Went out for a planned 20 mile route on sat morning and ended up just carrying on and doing 32 miles and did not even feel tired. Trying to build up to 60 miles for a charity ride next year

Chris
That was exactly my approach the other week..........I set out to do around 20 and ended up doing 33! I'd altered my seating position earlier that week and it seemed to pay off- hills seemed easier and I actually found I was averaging a lot higher speed than I used to, so much so I'd done the ride in just over 2h 20, which I thought wasnt bad for a hybrid! So I agree with the others you will easily achieve 60 miles in no time! Good luck!

It becomes addictive mind, .....

Don't come back complaining you havn't been warned.

62 mile is a metric century..(100 km) - 'cos cycling is in kilometres (Tour de France an' all that stuff)
then you have to do an imperial century - cos we're British
then a metric double century is not much further.

And then you are doomed to be lost for ever in the mysterious world of audax.
Believe me .... I have travelled this slippery slope

As previous posters. You start off all innocent like, just going to do a bit of riding, that's all. Then you start wondering about doing a bit more distance; then comes the worry about what your average speed is, and how it compares with others. Next, how heavy am I/my bike, should I go clipless? Is Lycra compulsory? I've only got one bike, should I have another for specialist use?
It's a slippery slope, you have been warned!!

I've got a charity ride coming up in October, so I went for a tootle on Saturday, which turned into a 45 miler including a ride up (slow) and down (whoa boy!) the Malverns on my old Pashley Roadster. Average for the trip was 13.7 with a max of 32.8 mph. See! It's addictive.
