rip the peak off when I pretend to be a roadie/tourist. Still wear baggies over lycra and mtb boots on touring bike. confuses 'em no end.

Two helmets for me. Having a big head is bad enough, but the rather bulbous Giro E2 (mtb lid) makes me look ridiculous when togged up in lycra.

I've been wondering whether I'll need to buy a new helmet when I buy a road bike. I'm swaying to yes but I'm maybe just being vain. Then again, right tool for the job.

Can someone tell me why in BMX they wear what appears to be full face motorcycle helmets?

same reason as they wear them on motorbikes...

same reason dowhhill MTB'ers wear 'em...

in a BMX race if one stacks then often more than one stacks. If you face plant onto someone else's bmx it hurts quite a bit iirc.

Yes because I can't see out from under my mtb helmet peak on my road bike. I can on my tourer though, so I wear it for that. It's also useful for keeping the rain out of my eyes when touring ...

That's a very good point. I usually have the peak stashed somewhere when on the touring bike to keep rain out of my eyes

MTBing doesn't do it for me at all - all my MTBs over the years have ended up as road bikes - so, no.

how can you say that? It rules.

I used to be roadie spending miles and miles inthe saddle but the technicalness and variet in mtb soon had me converted, not too mention bad attidtude from drivers.
