I found the standard okay because 11 x 11 = 121 and 242 = 2 x 121. Sometimes you see the way straight anway, and sometimes you don’t.

Absolutely - I straightaway was thinking 11*22, but couldn't get to 22 with out using the 11 for quite sometime....

Worked out the 11 x 22 but couldn't find a way to get the 22 without using the 11 and I got the answer by going down another route. I have now managed to get the 22 but it was no shorter than the route I got the answer.

The trickier ones usually involve coming up with a multiple of a value you want and then dividing. Because the solutions don’t often involve division it doesn’t come to the front of our minds as the way forward.
