Thinking of getting a new bike in the near future. I'm currently using Falcon Olympic '72 on a 53 with 28 to 11 (I think but not exactly sure). I've updated it a fair bit but I think it's time to use it only as a town/training bike and buy something else for longer rides and heavier use due to a rear dérailleur snapping.

Disc brakes preferred, as is steel over aluminium. I'd really like a Sram 1x after using only one up front for so long because of the simplicity, though I haven't seen it many places.

Price I haven't worked out yet. Probably will do it on finance, but only looking for in the future anyway.

How about a Genesis custom build or a canyon?

Yeah looks like it's heading that way, maybe upgrading all the parts on what I currently have then swapping them over to a genesis frame, didn't even think about canyon but will keep that in mind because nothing that I've seen is particularly catching my eye

You could also consider a condor, a Holdsworth from Planet X, Ridgeback and Dawes?

Narrowed it down to a Canyon, Genesis Croix De Fer or a Genesis self build (which is definitely most for the money, and allows me to put in sram 1x though probably not as good wheels). The others which I've looked at just don't have the spec that I'm after or the geometry - I've always been a lover of the high top tube which comes with most steel bikes.
