I finally splurged on a new pair of cycling shoes and a waterproof jacket last Saturday. Now as I'm a liberal recycling-orientated New European reading muesli -eating Remain-voting God cursed shirt-lifting lefty:okay:, I am mindful about my old waterproofs and shoes being in a landfill for the next 5000 years. How does one dispose of these things at minimum environmental impact?. Or should I just chuck 'em?.

Give your waterproofs to a homeless person.

Unless mine have deteriorated into rags, I drop them of at the local charity shop.. Someone might get some use from them, and a few ££ goes to the charity.

Not much of my old kit goes in the bin.

Keep it. You never know when it'll come in handy. As my dear wife likes to say "Just how much worn out bust up old crap do you need?"

I've bought quite a few cycling jerseys including a rather nice Castelli and a pair of Shimano shoes down here, sent by charities I imagine, so they do get reused.

Doesn't most of the charity clothes collections in the UK end up in Afica?
