The issue would come if the OP created a company called We Do Stuff For Money Ltd but traded as Baby Bundle and registered babybundle.com, then Baby Bundle Ltd came along and argued that the trading name and domain are rightfully theirs. They would likely win.

We have gone with "The Baby Bits Hamper Company" or www.babybits-hampers.co.uk and .com No defunct or dissolved companies involved so rather chuffed with ourselves. We plan to test trade with our family and friends and go 'live' on 6th April this year. Really excited about this now.

We've run the name by a whole load of pals - all with kids of varying ages from newborn to 16 and had a 90% "I like that a lot" and a couple of "ummm"s from the parents of the teens.
Couldn't find anyone trading using the name in any way, shape for form. We are supplying hampers full of baby bits so it seemed like a plan. We have both the domains now.

We gave that nappy cake to my God Daughter and she was blown away. Its the first one she has ever seen and she says that she is going to photograph it and put it on her facebook page and on the 12 FB baby group pages that she is a member of. I am seeing her on Thursday to set up a FB page for BBH. I am going to contact Ken's niece in a min and ask what size nappies her baby is in and make a nappy cake and send it to her as a pressie. Practice makes perfect as they say.

We are now working out contents and prices for Small, Medium, Large and Deluxe hampers (blue ones, pink ones and cream ones for those who don't know what they are having). A bathing hamper, a swimming hamper and a 'baby about town' going out and about hamper. God Daughter has had some cracking ideas and has really helped us. We spent a very productive hour with her this afternoon after work as she wrote notes down and I cuddled my new Great Niece. God Daughter told her little'un, this is your 'Great Aunt'. I replied "Great Aunt? More like Awesome Aunt"

I would grab the domains without the hyphen too - that's again something people often omit when typing in an URL from memory, or guessing what it is from the company name.

Everyone I asked is in business We have groomers, jewellery makers and retailers, hairdressers, lass who owns a pre-school nursery, ceramicist, Forever Living Distributor, house cleaner, wedding photographer and so on and so forth. All of which will offer honest opinions. We have a little ladies business club going and we meet up for tea and cake and a bit of brainstorming, networking and face stuffing every couple of weeks. Its very helpful for all of us. All of them, except for me have sprogs. Between us we know things that work and things that don't. I liked the name but wanted a second, third and twentieth opinion
