cheers for all your help guys... I think I've now got the confidence to tackle it. I reckon I'll try to get the compression fitting as opposed to pushfit.

Now all i need to find is a flexible hose measuring between 600mm and a 1000mm with 15mm and 3/4" tap fittings, with an isolation valve... the iso-valve doesn't seem to feature on the longer hoses I've found.
Have you looked online at Screwfix? If there isn't a 15mm to 3/4" BSP hose with integral isolation valve, just get a separate valve and plumb it in line with the hose. BTW, the thread on the tap should be 26.4 mm diameter if it's 3/4" BSP. If its 20.9 mm diameter, it's a 1/2" BSP thread.

yeah been looking at screwfix, wickes, ebay... the built in iso-valve seems to stop at 500mm, so yes, fitting a separate one is prolly the way to go.

Omg this is terrible. Most of these posts are likely genuine by I can't stop seeing all the innuendos. I ruined this thread for myself

I wish I'd spotted this nugget of advice first time around  I've been looking at the wrong side of the rule and assumed 3/4" across the thread meant 3/4" fitting.... another :bicycle: to screwfix.

Well the good news is i now have the correct fittings on both ends of my flexi pipes... but being unable to get the 600mm length I ideally needed, or the bit-too-long 900mm or 1000mm (all out of stock), I've got 1500mm ones... bit long, but I hope it's not an issue.

how did you get on? as a plumber id always recommend soldered to eliminate any future failure, but if you have to push fit are as good as compression, i prefer the twist lock type. often there is no need to worry about the paint if its not too thick, it will go over no problem

all sorted... the super long connections between pipe and tap came in handy as once I'd (stupidly) built a sink unit full of right-angles, I realised the kitchen didn't have any.. so it went in and out hokey-cokey style. I stopped checking for leaks after a few weeks because as far as i can tell, there weren't any.

This is my downstairs neighbour. :rain:
