Thanks very much!

I should make it clear that his/her driving was really exceptional - to the extent that I tend to see this level of driving only a couple of times a year. I get to see a lot of vehicles in London too, I have a 43 mile round trip commute.

Looks good Mikey. I sent a similar one to Johnsons bus company of Solihull. Got a nice thank you and she printed my mail off and put it on the wall in the driver's rest room.

Good letter posted on the wall of the drivers' toilets. A complaint letter flushed down the drivers' toilets .

Job done!

Hope they do pass it on to the driver, so he knows his effort is appreciated.

I'm sure they will. I once had a customer write in to thank me for my help and it got passed down from head office.

Smaller company, but I think most companies appreciate that 15 minutes work tracking down the person (if that) is well worth the benefits.

I gave a thanks to Compass Royston, a local coach company for their driving the other week (vid is here)
Only took a min to send it, and not heard anything back, but its nice to give them a pat on the back if they are doing the job well.

I didn't hear back from TNT or Chambers (who i only emailed the other week). Which was a shame. Gave both drivers waves and I know the Chambers guy saw so not the end of the world. Hopefully the message was passed on still.

Nice idea. I would have probably added at the beginning that this letter might sound ironic at first glance but it isn´t meant that way.

LOL, that would be funny! No, I'm fairly sure that it would come across as genuine. I made a few changes since the first draft above, and wrote this in the end:

I'd like to compliment your driver, whom I encountered on Saturday morning commuting into London. I first encountered the lorry with registration DK57 LCL near Lewisham, and given the flow of traffic we passed and repassed each other a few times until Vauxhall, so I had plenty of time to notice how exceptionally good his/her driving was.

I particularly appreciated the driver's patience in waiting behind me a couple of times when it wasn't safe to overtake. I was repeatedly impressed with his/her skills whilst he/she interacted with other motor vehicles and flowed smoothly through the traffic with patience and good manners. The driving was good enough that I usually only encounter this level of driving a few times a year. I'm sure he or she will remember this as I was riding an unusual black recumbent bicycle.

I'd like to request that this be noted on the driver's record, and my thanks and compliments passed to both the driver and his/her manager.

I have the general impression that Sainsburys drivers are well above average, I'm sure in large part due to the corporate responsibility programme. Thank you!

Dear Pretty In Pink

Your pink stretch limo passed me on River Green last Monday morning, a round 07:15. I was cycling. This is a dodgy bit of road, cars rush past at pinch points, it wasn't safe for your driver to pass and he didn't, he hung back, then gave me plenty of room when he did pass. Please pass on my thanks, I wish there were more drivers like your employee.

Best regards

Dear Dawesome

We wish to Thank you for taking the time to e mail us regarding the manner in which our limousine was being driven on Monday 15th February We pride ourselves on being a professional company and all our drivers are trained to respect other road users and it is most pleasing to receive positive feedback Your comments have been passed to our driver With Kind Regards Pretty in Pink Limousines

I was a bit cheeky and headed the email: YOUR DRIVER, MONDAY FEBRUARY FIFTEENTH so I think they may have expected a different kind of letter!

Nice one BentMikey. unfortunately It seems to be easy to complain, less to praise. FWIW, I've worked in customer service and had a letter sent in about my performance (good) with a customer, and it does make a difference. I think anyone is usually happy to be recognized for a job well done.

Interestingly on one of my commutes into work this week I had a pickup truck pass me with plenty of space (I've had people in small cars give me less space) -caught up with him later after he parked up. I shouted out "Thanks for giving me room back there, i really appreciate it, thanks!" -he replied "no problem", but to be honest I think he was caught a bit off guard and surprized. Anyway, I'm hoping he remembers it and continues to drive with care.

So to answer your question, yes it's worth sending and I'm glad you did!
