Evening gang.

New MTB arrived today. Which I’ve built up apart from pedals…..

1./ Firstly - looks like the unthreaded part / sharp shoulder of the spindle will definitely dig into the aluminium crank arm when tightened. So I’ve measured up and ordered some Aluminium washers off eBay.

Is it normal to (have to) fit washers like this. Anything to be aware doing this of ?

2./ The DMR V8 pedals I’m fitting have come with a ‘aluminium washer’ on the spindle - in the box from new 🤷‍♂️ This ‘washer’ has an o-ring inside it - kinda like a doughty washer. But it’s not a wonderful fit on the pedal and is reasonably loose / easy to slide along the spindle.

I presume this is some sort of crude seal to protect the pedal bearings. Seems like it would easily slide up the shaft if riding anything like vigorously etc….

Leave in place and try. Throw in the parts bin. Crucial bit of kit so leave in place or ?

Push it down to the pedal body, it's supposed to be a seal to protect the bearings but the ones on mine are loose too.
