Do cars feel pain?

Wing mirrors can cost 100s of £££s. They cannot be ajusted from the outside, it's all done with little motors controlled by a button on the dashboard so if you knock one the motorist might have a real problem and real expense. It'd be better if mirrors were replaced by cameras which would eliminate blind-spots, not stick out and not be any more expensive.

Why does it make a difference what forum it is? Damage someone's property (car, bicycle, laptop, whatever) because you're impatient and you can expect the owner of that property to be understandably unimpressed.

Like many others I am a cyclist as well as a motorist. What part don't you understand ?

Instead he’s been tried by the very forum he sought refuge and some support within.

You clearly need to wind your neck in. So what if this is a cycling forum, the op clearly squeezed through a gap that was not there, hit someone's wing mirror and came here for some moral support. I doubt very much he was expecting the deserved reaction he got.

You made a mistake, we all do. You have put your hand up to it, fair play. Just take the rollocking on the chin and don't beat yourself up too much about it. Learn from this unpleasant experience.

Gosh, one thing this post has done is got people chatting. On a side note, who has seen that car advert (I think it is Volvo?). It says 'debate brings us together'. Absolute rubbish! Debate seems to make us less likely to be together, and that's not we want.

Having now reviewed the original posts, and our subsequent replies, I do see that we may have, in the most part, missed Joe's point. Joe acknowledges that he made a mistake, he just doesn't think it warranted what happened. What did happen? He got an earfull. None of us actually like it when this happens; indeed for Joe it was an awful frustration
(He had apologised). However, from the driver's perspective; he hadn't heard this (by the sounds of it...), so obviously it was rather frustrating for them too!

A frustrating situation (for both people present) and I hope neither encounter it again! (Call my naive..haha)

I quite understand people being protective about their cars - aren't we often the same with our bikes? I know I'd rather park my bike (on a train for example), than leave it to someone else who might handle it badly, not take care of it.

It depends if you clipped it or broke it.
Don't forget replacement Glass just for Mirrors is nearly £30.
Problem is they are all heated now so if you want this to work you need to buy a proper replacement.

Gotta think too what would you have said if he had of clipped your handlebar ?
